About
About the Project
The Alberta Sikh Responders Project was created as a community-driven initiative by Sikh First Responders to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Sikhs serving in first responder roles across Alberta. The commemorative coin was designed to represent service, courage, community, and the values shared by first responders who dedicate themselves to protecting and supporting others. Beyond recognition, the project also carried a charitable purpose. The coin was created as a fundraising initiative, allowing the first responder community and supporters to come together while raising funds for charitable causes. The finished piece serves as both a symbol of pride and a reminder of the strong tradition of seva — selfless service — within the Sikh community. It honours Sikh first responders for their commitment to public service while using the project itself to give back to those in need. More than a challenge coin, the Alberta Sikh Responders Project represents community, service, representation, and the belief that recognition can also be used as a force for positive impact.
